WHILE PARTICIPATING IN A CLEANUP HAS IMMEDIATE BENEFITS FOR THAT SPECIFIC AREA, DATA CAN HAVE AN ONGOING RIPPLE EFFECT BY SUPPORTING POLICY MEASURES AND SOLUTIONS. THE TRASHBLITZ APP MAKES IT EASY TO COLLECT DATA ON BRANDS, MATERIALS, AND ITEMS FOUND AT CLEANUP EVENTS. EACH RECORD CONTRIBUTES TO LOCAL, NATIONAL, AND GLOBAL DATASETS TO HELP INFORM POLICY IN THE UNITED STATES AND AROUND THE WORLD AND HOLD CORPORATE POLLUTERS ACCOUNTABLE. BY CONTRIBUTING DATA TO TRASHBLITZ, YOU CAN HAVE AN IMPACT BEYOND THE CLEANUP.
How to Blitz

Familiarize yourself with the platform by watching the training video and reviewing the material guide.

Download the TrashBlitz app!

Sign in and start logging! It’s helpful to work in pairs, with one person collecting trash while the other inputs data.

Review your data, and hit submit!

PLASTIC-FREE PARKS
Plastic-Free Parks is an annual TrashBlitz project that tracks waste trends across national, state, and local parks. By crowdsourcing data on the most prevalent items, brands, and materials found across sites, we can drive science-based solutions that protect our most treasured spaces.
To participate: Download the TrashBlitz app, go to your favorite park and start logging.
