PLASTIC-FREE PARKS

Join the effort to keep our national parks plastic-free!

Plastic-Free Parks is an annual TrashBlitz project to that tracks waste trends in U.S. National Parks and on federal lands. The goal is to understand which materials, items, and brands of waste are most common to work toward solutions that protect our parks from the harm of plastic pollution.

Join community science volunteers around the country by documenting trash at national parks in three easy steps:

  1. Sign up to volunteer below, and receive training information and resources straight to your inbox.

  2. Download the TrashBlitz app (available on iOS or Android) and familiarize yourself with the platform.

  3. Visit any U.S. National Park or NPS-managed land. Explore, have fun, and pick up trash as you see it. Log your findings (item, brand, material) in the app as you go.
