5 GYRES IS LOOKING FOR CARIBBEAN-BASED ORGANIZATIONS TO PARTNER WITH TO BRING TRASHBLITZ, OUR COMMUNITY SCIENCE APP FOR COLLECTING DATA AND DRIVING SOLUTIONS TO PLASTIC POLLUTION, INTO THREE NEW CARIBBEAN NATIONS FROM NOVEMBER 2026 - NOVEMBER 2028.

ABOUT TRASHBLITZ CARIBBEAN

Three organizations will be selected as TrashBlitz Caribbean partners. Each will receive $25,000 USD over two years ($10,000 in year one and $15,000 in year two) to lead community-based plastic pollution audits, pilot local waste-reduction solutions, and contribute to a regional comparative report.

The selected organizations will use the TrashBlitz app to conduct community waste audits to inform locally driven action. In the second year, organizations will develop a pilot solution informed by their findings, spanning from refill systems to reuse infrastructure to policy campaigns. In Belize, this data-driven approach helped TrashBlitz partner, Sea of Life, identify single-use water pouches as a key source of litter at a local pilot school, leading to an 85% reduction in water pouch litter on campus.

Selected partners will also be invited to Belize for an in-person kick-off workshop from November 8-11, 2026 - including site visits and hands-on TrashBlitz training (all expenses covered).
