TrashBlitz is a data collection platform that empowers community-focused research by making it easy to collect data on brands, materials, and items found in the environment. Through the platform, community members can build datasets of plastic pollution impacting the local region and ecosystem. The data collected informs policy solutions, supports education, and demonstrates the need for relevant action plans.
5 Gyres will debut a new feature in the app, Photocapture, at Climate Week NYC. This tool allows users to snap a photo of trash on a walk, hike, or during a cleanup and instantly log it into our global database, further supporting solutions to plastic pollution.
