About the Science Ambassador Action Fund

The Science Ambassador Action Fund is a small grant ($500) available to early career researchers (students or recent graduates) leading work around plastic pollution, including microplastics. In addition to funding, the Action Fund recipient will receive support from 5 Gyres in mobilizing science to inform change, including training on science communications and preparing policy briefs, if support is requested.

About the Advocacy Ambassador Action Fund

The Advocacy Ambassador Action Fund is a small grant ($500) available to any U.S.-based Ambassador interested in advocating for solutions around plastic pollution, including microplastics. Ambassadors can spearhead efforts in their own communities, or join 5 Gyres in furthering our priority policies. Ambassador-led activities can include meeting with your Congressmember or Councilmember, tabling to collect signatures, mobilizing your community, and more. There is also an opportunity to use the funds to join 5 Gyres at a Lobby Day in Sacramento or DC. Action Fund recipients will receive additional support from 5 Gyres, including advocacy training, preparing policy briefs, and more.

About the TrashBlitz Ambassador Action Fund

The TrashBlitz Ambassador Action Fund is a small grant ($500) available to U.S.-based Ambassadors who can lead a TrashBlitz event in a national park or on federal land as part of 5 Gyres’ Plastic-Free Parks project. Recipients are expected to log a minimum of 200 pieces of trash in the TrashBlitz app.
